Lessons, Connections & Inspiration from SHRM India Annual 25 – The Festival of Work

The journey to building smarter workplaces starts with showing up, listening deeply, and acting purposefully — and that’s exactly what we experienced at the SHRM India Annual Conference & Expo 2025 (13-14 November, Taj Palace, New Delhi). As an Emerging Tech Partner, Flexiele had the privilege to participate in the heart of this gathering of HR leaders, technology innovators and change-makers – and we returned not only inspired, but equipped with insights we are eager to bring into our work and your workplace.

A Convergence of People, Purpose & Possibilities

SHRM India marked its 20-year journey with this edition of The Festival of Work — a fitting title for an event that placed equal emphasis on the human side of work as much as the technology and process side. Over two days, the agenda featured global and Indian thought-leaders, CXOs, policy-makers and HR professionals converging to explore what truly matters for modern work.

Notable sessions included:

  • A keynote by Johnny C. Taylor Jr. (President & CEO of SHRM) emphasising that India is at the forefront of shaping the future of work, where “technology, talent and purpose converge”.
  • A high-powered panel on “Leading the Celebration: CXOs on Culture & The New Code of Work” featuring Richard Rekhy and Sanjeev Jain moderated by Pranjal Sharma.
  • Deep dive masterclasses on agentic AI (with speakers like Shaakun Khanna), AI-First HR (led by Sandeep Alur of Microsoft) and sessions on culture, skills, distributed workplaces and financial wellbeing.

The format combined Main Stage talks, learning tracks, expo booths and networking high tea — providing multiple ways for us to engage, absorb and exchange.

Our Key Learnings

As we walked the floors, engaged with delegates at our booth and listened into conversation after conversation, three major themes stood out for us — lessons we’re taking home and embedding into how Flexiele works and how we advise our clients.

1. HR Technology Isn’t Enough Without the Human

The sessions reinforced that “smart” HR means more than automation. The real value kicks in when technology amplifies people-purpose: empathy, culture, inclusion and meaningful engagement. The message was loud and clear — as one speaker put it, “the evolution of HR is already underway… where HR becomes a strategic growth engine.

For Flexiele, this means: when you build or adopt HR systems, centre them around human behaviours, not just workflows. A dashboard is useful — a meaningful conversation is transformative.

2. AI & Agentic Intelligence — Not the Future, The Now

The buzz around AI was everywhere, but what struck us was how many sessions moved beyond hype to action: agentic AI, talent strategy powered by AI, the modern hiring stack, and the need for ethical and inclusive adoption.

We walked away with a clearer view: HR tech must be intelligent, adaptive and human-centric. At Flexiele, we’re accelerating our roadmap to bring solutions that support smarter talent decisions, personalized engagement and scalable growth — without losing the human touch.

3. Culture, Wellbeing & Skills Are Non-Negotiables

Workplaces today are fast, distributed and complex. Multiple sessions highlighted that culture must be actively nurtured, wellbeing must be prioritized and skills must be future-ready. Topics such as financial wellbeing, distributed collaboration and leadership derailers were deeply covered.

Our takeaway: When organisations invest in process and tech but neglect culture and wellbeing, the outcomes drop. Flexiele’s holistic approach means we consider people, process and tech in equal measure — helping organisations build workplaces that sustain, not just scale.

What We Brought & What We Heard

At our booth, we showcased how Flexiele solutions are designed to “understand people and processes” — our promise turned into a conversation starter many delegates connected with. By listening to onsite feedback, demoing live scenarios and discussing emerging HR challenges, we validated our belief: HR-tech is in its “humanisation” phase.

Some highlights from our booth interactions:

  • HR leaders are actively looking for engagement tools that tie to business outcomes, not just system adoption.
  • Many organisations are seeking full-stack solutions that span recruitment, performance, culture, analytics — with minimal silos.
  • Start-ups and SMEs alike are catching up fast on digital transformation, but what they crave most is simplicity, affordability, and meaningful adoption.

What’s Next for Us

Armed with learnings from SHRM India, we’re doubling down on a few strategic initiatives:

  • Enhancing our platform with AI-driven insights that tie directly to engagement, retention and growth.
  • Building plug-and-play modules aimed specifically at organisations with constrained budgets but high ambitions (like many we met at the event).
  • Launching thought-leadership content around “people-centric HR tech”, translating conference insights into practical articles, webinars and workshops for our community.

A Big Thank-You

To everyone we met — the HR professionals, innovators, partners and peers — thank you for your time, your openness and your curiosity. Events like SHRM India Annual 25 remind us that while technology powers workplaces, it’s the human connections that fuel progress.

Stay tuned as Flexiele turns these conversations into solutions, and these solutions into smart, connected, human-centred workplaces.
